CHAPTER 3
Mother
crying for her son
Inside the shop, Srilaxmi was crying for
her son. “Sir, please open the shutters. My son is outside. They will kill him.”
Owner said with fear, “Madam, please understand the
situation. We cannot open the shutters. If we open, all will die.”
They heard the police on mike. “All of you disperse
and go to your houses within one hour. After one hour, curfew will start. You
may open the shop doors. Police security is there. You need not fear.”
The shutters opened. Srilaxmi and Srilekha came out
with Ram. They looked around for Laxman. But no one was outside except for the
police. Srilaxmi was shocked. She asked the police. “Have you seen my son?”
Police shook his head, “No, madam. You may ask the
inspector.”
Srilaxmi approached the inspector. “Sir, my son is
outside. Have you seen him?”
Inspector asked, “Tell me what he looked like.”
Srilaxmi pointed to Ram.
Inspector looked at Ram. “Yes. I have seen a boy just
like him. But he was in the arms of a Muslim guy. He said that he was his son
and he was taking him to the hospital.”
Srilaxmi was shocked. She started crying.
Inspector said, “Don’t
worry. You come with me. He must be somewhere around this place.”
Srilaxmi, Srilekha climbed into the jeep with Ram.
They searched all over the place but do not find the boy.
Inspector said, “That
badmash must have kidnapped the boy.”
Srilaxmi cried loudly. “I want my son.”
Inspector tried to console her. “Please don’t cry. We
will find your son soon. Now, tell me where your house is. I will drop you
home.”
He left them at their house.
